Troubleshooting guide

  

  Problem: No Connection

                                                                         

Possible Cause Solution

The equipment (wireless equipment, router, switch) maybeOFF or cable may not be plugged in properly                             

Check if the equipment is ON.

Check if the cable is properly plugged in to your PC/laptop

Main cable (uplink) is not plugged to WAN/Internet port on the router or switch Check and plug the cable in the required port
 Router/Switch has frozen

Restart the Router/Switch

NIC (Network Interface Card) is disabled Make sure that your NIC is enabled (check on the bottom right hand side of your screen if you can see two icons resembling to Computers)
No IP address in the Computer Check if your computer has got the IP address assigned to you by ZANLINK                               

 

  Problem: Slow/Unstable Connection

 

Possible Cause Solution
Devices (Router, switch or Computer) are frozen Restart (put OFF then ON) the devices (router, switch or PC)
PC capacity in terms of processor speed, RAM and version of window is low                                   Check and upgrade the PC capacity in terms of processor speed, RAM and version of window to the required standards
Viruses in your PC Install or update antivirus and then scan the whole PC
Too much browsing history and cookies

Try to clear history through tools after naking sure the cookies are ticked.

Steps to follow:

  • Click Tools
  • Clear private data
  • Tick cookies
  • Click Clear Private Data
Pop - ups from the Internet Check for the pop-up options

 

    How to Enable NIC

If you are using Windows XP follow the below steps: If you are using Windows Vista follow the below steps:
Click - Start Click - Start
Click My Computer Click  Network
Click my Network Place Click Network and Sharing Centre
Click View Network Connections Click Manage Network Connection
Right Click Local area connections Right click Local area connection
Click Enable Click - Enable
  Click - Continue

  

  How to block pop-ups

If you are using Mozilla Firefox                               If you are using Internet explorer
Click on the Mozilla Fire fox, click on the menu bar, select options, click content and tick Block pop-up windows Open windows Internet Explorer, click tools, select pop-up blocker. From Pop-up Blocker click Turn on pop-up blocker
