ZANLINK Broadband

How to get ZANLINK broadband services

ZANLINK broadband is available in both Zanzibar and Pemba in all districts and at various strategic points. ZANLINK has set up a vast broadband Network Infrastructure to ensure that all clients can obtain our broadband services.

In order to connect to ZANLINK broadband services, clients will be required to connect to ZANLINK’s Network Infrastructure and select the appropriate broadband plan to suite their requirements. There will be one time Installation/set up fees followed by monthly broadband access fees.

Clients in Zanzibar Stone Town can connect to our broadband service through our extensive Fiber Optical backbone that ZANLINK has deployed, with points of presence (PoPs) in almost all places in Zanzibar Stone Town. Basically when a client requires broadband services we just install a CAT5e cable from the PoP that is near the client’s premises up to the Clients PC/Network and connect them to the broadband. The whole process takes not more than 1 day before the client is up and running with fast ZANLINK broadband services.

For all clients outside the Zanzibar Stone Town, remote areas as well as Pemba, we have set up a wide and extensive Network through microwave technology that operates on frequencies ranging between 2.4GHZ and 5.7 GHZ. For client who requires our broadband service in these areas, we install CPE (Clients premises Equipment) to their premises. We mainly use products such as Motorola Canopy and Nano Stations, that communicates to our nearest repeater to establish the broadband connection. The whole exercise takes between 1 – 2 days before the client is live with our broadband services.

The followings are the simple steps for obtaining our broadband services:

  1. Contact ZANLINK office to request for broadband services.
  2. A survey will be arranged to establish the best method of connection (Fiber optical or microwave technology).
  3. Once the client selects the appropriate broadband package for his/her requirements, an installation is arranged to connect the client to the broadband.
  4. The client is live with fast, reliable and stable broadband services.

ZANLINK will design, implement and manage the whole process. The client does not require to do anything more than ensuring that his/her PC is in working condition and has a NIC (Network Interface Card). If the client doesn’t have this card ZANLINK can facilitate this for a cost.
