ZANLINK has set up a high quality multi-protocol convergent IP Network infrastructure backbone that consists of a City Wide fiber optical and Wide Area Network that supports a wide range of convergent services such as fast broadband access, voice, data as well as various connectivity solutions such as Virtual Private Networks (VPN).
This Network has constantly been improved and extended over the years to comply with our objective of extending our outreach and avail our services to clients situated at different strategic points in both the Zanzibar and Pemba Islands.
The Network is scalable and can be easily extended to accommodate increasing needs. It is designed and implemented for maximum resilience and redundancy with a state-of-the-art monitoring, backed by our NOC to ensures our customers websites, servers and connectivity solutions remain online all the time.
ZANLINK is also connected to the Tanzania Internet Exchange (TIX) based in Tanzania Mainland to accomplish a landmark achievement of being able to provide fast, local connectivity solutions to customers having offices both in Zanzibar as well as the Mainland.
ZANLINK obtains its broadband via the SEACOM International submarine fiber cable system that connects Tanzania to the Global Networks and enjoys the fastest Internet broadband.
The above schematic diagram shows ZANLINK Network infrastructure layout. It basically outlines the following:
ZANLINK’s connection to the SEACOM International Fiber optic cable system.
Wireless Area Network and Fiber optical Network through which we provide the broadband and other convergent services to our clients.
Our server farm and the Network Operations Center (NOC) through which we do a regular monitoring of the Network status of our clientele base.
Our Network has the following strengths:
A 24 hours/ 7 days standby generator and batte ry back up inverter system at our main server base.
All the necessary backups such as power backups, surge protectors for power and Ethernet and UPS installed in all it’s Repeaters as well as point of Presences (PoPs).
Sophisticated and “state of the art” equipment deployed in its infrastructure. We have deployed a Fiber optical backbone to all our Point of Presences. For our Repeaters infrastructure, we have deployed Motorola canopy backhaul, Trango fox as well as Redline. This is to provides the WAN with high redundancy and backup contingency
A system of regular check-up and maintenance for our repeaters and PoPs through our Network Monitoring Center (NOC).
Dedicated Server Room: Our server room is a secure area with all the necessary temperature control devices to ensure it runs smoothly and without any hitches. It has various servers dedicated for different purposes. All the servers are high capacity sourced from a number of reputed manufacturers including Dell and HP. The servers run various functions and platform such as:
o DNS Platform: We operate an advanced database driven MyDNS powered DNS solution. We also operate a number of Resolving or Caching DNS servers, ensuring only the most current DNS record for any domain name is returned and making DNS resolution as quick as possible for our customers.
oE mail PlatformOur email platform cluster currently handles huge amount of emails every day which are passed through both anti-spam and anti-virus filters before being stored on our state-of-the-art storage platform. Access to stored email is available via POP3, WebMail and IMAP.
oHosting Platform: All our shared-server websites are hosted on two state-of-the-art server farms, with one cluster for our Linux hosting and another for the Windows hosting. Each server farm is composed of a cluster of servers behind a series of redundant load-balancers. This allows any of the servers in the cluster to be taken out of service for maintenance without affecting the performance of any hosted website.
oData backups:All of our major platforms storing customer data are backed up on regular basis to independent and resilient devices.
